1 year old, defective ram, hdd, etc (repaired under warranty)
For the past month I have had to reinstall sound blaster drivers several times, I give up! My question is if I remove the sound blaster card and set the bios for internal audio does windows have built-in audio?

If you use the onboard sound, you will have to install drivers for it. You should be able to get the drivers from the Dell website.

What Sound Blaster card have you got and do you play any games?

from original order form "sound blaster SB0413". i have the original sb cd but half the time i can't load the drivers and if i manage a few days no sound again. dm shows yellow exclaimation mark. no games

Try reinstalling the Intel chipset drivers - it's called Intel Chipset Identification Utility.

thanks for your reply glc. after dell replaced the hdd i had to load windows and all else. i installed the chipset utility at that time. i am so frustrated with this computer which i need for banking. every day i wonder what will break next. i have uninstalled the sb driver and program and downloaded the onboard sound driver. i know i need to change bios to point to internal sound, anything else i should know?
