XP / Vista Dual Boot

A few months I decided to dual boot vista on a separate HD. After the trial period was over I was unable to access vista for an uninstall, so I decided to just reformat the drive that vista was loaded on. Now whenever I reboot I still receive the option to dual boot either vista or XP.

Does anyone know how to remove the vista option or is this stored in the MBR?

You need to edit the boot.ini file to remove the references to Vista. You can either edit it directly from the C:\ drive, or right-click on "My Computer", select Properties, Advanced tab, Startup and Recovery Settings button, then the Edit button.

Remove the line under [operating systems] that references Vista. You should be left with one line for XP that looks something like this (what it looks like for you depends on drive partitioning, etc.):

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
