Do you still have access to the computer and or hard drive the files are on? What is the status of the hard drive in question?

The hard drive is fine - it was just the OS that messed up. I rebuilt the OS. But saved all the files (including hidden ones) first.

Outlook uses .pst files. Search for them. Default names are outlook.pst and archive.pst. Outlook Express uses .dbx files, with the same name as each folder (inbox.dbx, sent items.dbx, etc.).
