Constantly shutting down when not in use

This desktop has Win2k and has started to shut down by itself while left alone and not in use. I come back and its shut down. Sometmes it shuts down when I'm browsing with FF. I checked the 'power options' but everything ( turn off hard disk, hibernate, standby, monitor) is set to 'never'. Some times it happens after a half hour but usually its 6 hrs or more before it shuts down.
I don't think its overheating but I will check that.
I doubt its the browser because often theres nothing running - just idle with only the desktop. Taskmgr is showing between zero and 2% cpu usage right now, and I've run virus check and malware checks. Any idea of the cause ?
Thanks
Chris

Thanks. That sounds like a serious possibility. How could I prove it, apart from swapping the power supply with a good one ?

Could use the Asus Prode utility to record the voltage monitoring it can do.

Yes, it was the power supply. I would have thought it would either work or not work, and didn't realise they could give out low voltage.
Thanks,
Chris
