Question XP Pro screen turns black when a WMV-HD file is played

I am trying to play a WMV HD file downloaded from Microsoft website(http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...tshowcase.aspx). The moment I open the file (I use WMP 10) the screen turns black in color and I get a blue screen that says "A problem has been detected....". Once I restart the machine things are back to normal, but the problem still exists and I have never been able to play this file and I have to restart the PC to resume proper operation. I assume these issues might be due to the display driver. I have an Intel GEBV2 motherboard and I have the link right here: http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...4&submit=Go%21

I have the latest BIOS update installed. I am not sure whether the display driver and the few other updates are installed. My PC is not with me right now. So probably have to wait for a few days for checking for the updates that have been installed on the computer. If you have any furthur suggestions on this, please suggest. Thanks.

Please note that the problem is caused only when the newly WMV file is played. I have many other WMV files on the PC, that have been downloaded earlier that plays without any issues.

Regards
Ed.

Might be the system requirements for the HD videos. Check the page you linked for Minimum system requirements. I suspect your onboard video isn't strong enough to run these.

You may not have the required codecs installed.
