Question on installing winXP Home to SATA HDD Config...

How do you do it?

I have the drive installed and it is recognized by the mobo...but I also have another HDD (IDE ATA100) in there with window xp on it. I set the boot priority as CDROM, Removable Devices, and then Hard Discs. When it says "Press any key to boot from disc" I do that and it loads the windows setup screen...then it inspects my system for other windows installations and obviously finds the IDE ATA100 with windows on it so I select the do not repair and then it proceeds to install windows over my current windows installions (or so it appears - I restarted the PC cuz I didn't want my current OS overwritten).

So what gives? How do I get the installation disc to recognize my SATA drive for the clean install?

Am I making sense? Need more info? Let me know. Thanks.

P.S. Please advise if I'm posting in the wrong place...this one seemed most appropriate though it may turn out to be a hardware issue rather than software. Tks

Disconnect the IDE drive until XP is installed on the SATA drive. Also, there should be an area in the bios to select which hard drive to give priority to. Once you reinstall the IDE, set the SATA as first in the hard drive area.
