websites causing laptop to freeze up
this is strange and i'm not sure what to try. I have a P3, 645mhz, 512mb of ram A21m IBM laptop that keeps freezing when surfing websites. a website will load normal but when i start scrolling down the page the laptop will freeze. last week I formatted hard drive and put a fresh copy of xp on it with service pack 2. I havent installed any programs on it. I had the task manager open while scrolling to watch cpu usage and the bar goes way up to 80-90 percent when scrolling. It doesnt matter what is on the website. It will happen even on a site with just text and no pictures.
should 80-90 percent of the cpu be getting used by just scrolling down a website? |

No, that kind of cpu usage is highly abnormal. There is an underlying issue causing this behavior. Do you have any other applications loaded along with the browser? Have you adjusted the virtual memory setting from the system default? Does your machine throw off any error messages?
