Windows ME...the good and bad?
A buddy of mine is using Windows ME, and it seems to be a nightmare when trying to add new programs to it. I personally have never used Windows ME (I currently have XP Home edition) and he gets an occassional "blue screen with errors" which seems to get cleared up by rebooting.
I tried downloading and installing Itunes with no success, and wonder if it's truly Windows ME, or the Itunes installer? I AM trying to download the "free" older version, which these days I'm finding "free" really isn't free, in that by the time you are ready to do the last step in the downloading process, the screen asking for $$ shows up! (Can you see me shaking my head?) At any rate, my original question regarding how stable Windows ME I suppose should be found out, and if it has related issues with downloading new programs and giving error messages at the drop of a hat? Thanks in advance. Powerstroke2000 |

iTunes is not compatible with Windows ME. Only Windows 2000 and XP.
Windows ME is an awful OS. If the computer is strong enough to run it, go with XP. Otherwise, if it can't meet the requirements for XP, installing Windows 98 SE is a much better choice than using ME. |
