Unhappy Problems: Wordperfect, Regedit, My Docs

I've had Windows 200 installed for some six months now, and just recently re-installed so I could clear the clutter and address the problems I'd been having with it before I added my users, installed my programs etc. Well, I'm still having those problems, and new ones to boot.

1. WORDPERFECT 8: Basically, it won't work unless you are logged on as administrator, otherwise it generates an error message (I hope to post the full errror transcript in a later post) and shuts itself down. I tried giving non-admin users Full Control in the Security tab of the program's properties, but that didn't work. Before you suggest alternatives, let it be said that program needs to be installed, and granting admin privileges willy-nilly is obviously not a great workaround.

2. REGEDIT: Wanting to keep the Windows Logon fields clear as a security measure, I went to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon and changed the settings, but on reboot, they had reverted to their original values. Trying it with Tweak UI yielded the same results. In fact, I don't seem to be able to change any Registry settings.

3. MY DOCUMENTS: After restoring another user's files to his My Documents folder, I later noticed that he had two of them: One on the Desktop, and one at C:\Documents and Settings\User\My Documents, which had an IE History Sun Dial folder icon and contained nothing but IE history info. To access the user's My Documents folder, I have to log in as him! And, when you pull up the properties on the Desktop My Docs folder, it lists the above path as the target!

4. OTHER STUFF: I also seem to be having weird icon display problems in the Systray, as well as not being able to apply a customised folder's settings to all the others. They're the least of my problems right now, but I thought I'd just throw them in for reference...

I'd like to avoid re-installing as I've already done it once when Sp1 made the computer hang like a bastard on startup (It's presently installed). So if anybody can help me out, I'd be most grateful.

Red face Kinda halfway there

Alright...

Fixed the Wordperfect problem. I am officialy a moron.

The My Docs thing was sorted out with a removel and recreation of the user file, but I'd still like to know what that was all about.

Still got the Registry problem.
