Will I have a problem?
In January '03 I purchased an valid OEM Win XP disc from Frys with some build parts etc. When SP2 came out I slipstreamed SP2 with the origional disc. Since then I have I have upgraded my computer five times ie: four different motherboards, three different hardrives & various other periphals. Now i am going to upgrade the MoBo and vid again in order to go to PCIe. I have read somewhere that Microsoft now considers a different motherboard to be a new computer & will no longer allow you to do it. In the past all I had to do was call the 800# after the install and get the validation numbers from from the person on the phone after the automated questions. It is a pain but I understand why it has to be done, the only reason it is a pain is that I am a little hard of hearing and the person on the phone allways seems to speak with a thick accent.
Long story short.do you think I will have a problem with Microsoft when I install this new equiptment? I can buy a new OEM copy and a floppy or something but I really don't want to,afterall I bought the origional one. Your thoughts. |

you should have no problem at all as you upgraded the same computer and the old computer no longer exist, so the phone call will work just fine.
