system config,startup question

There is something on my startup list I am curious about, it doesn't have letters just small rectangles, no words

under startup item it is just a row of rectangles
under command just same rectangles

under location it says : HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current....

What is this??

Thanks,
Robert

This could be the Troj/TCXMedi-J Trojan virus. It will set a registry entry to point to itself to run at startup.

I recommend updating your A/V software and doing a scan.

Small rectangles are Windows's standard way of displaying characters for which it doesn't have the right font/character set. Usually shows up when trying to display asian/cyrilic characters...

Thanks, there are 4 of these in msconfig, I unchecked all 4 and don't notice anything different.
I wasn't having any problems with computer, just noticed these on the startup list and wondered what they were.
I have the Microsoft firewall "on" and I have spyware blaster, avg free edition, cws shredder, reg scrub xp,spyware guard and hijack this.
