Hello again,
It seems that my Disk Defragmenter is not working. When I click on a drive & click Analyze or Defragment nothing happens. Even if I right click on the drive it doesn't work. It seems that I might be visiting here somewhat frequently with the way that my computer seems to be behaving. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Ok, well it looks like his last step is what would help me here. The problem is I don't see a windows\inf directory. It's not sitting in the Windows folder, so any idea where I could find it now? Thanks!

Use search on the start menu, use dfrg.inf as the search term in the file name box, and under all files and folders, under "look in" go to the bottom and hit browse click my computer, click c, click windows, hit search and it will pop right up in a few seconds.

Well unfortunately that did not work. I don't know why I didn't think to search for it myself, but I found it. It just didn't do any good. Any more ideas??? Thanks guys.

The C:\Windows\inf folder is hidden. In Windows Explorer, go up to Tools>Folder Options. Click on the View Tab and uncheck "Show hidden files and folders"

I'm sorry, I must not have been very clear. I did find the file. The search function worked perfectly. When I found it, right-clicked it, and installed it...nothing happened. It still doesn't work. Any more ideas? Thanks.

Hey miller.
If u dont mind missing the built in tool, download Diskeeper Lite instead ( freeware), its a very nice utility. You can go in for the paid version later if you want to scheduling features etc. I think this download link works. http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=1207 |

That seems to be working. It looks very similar to the Windows version, which is cool. As long as this keeps working I'll be in good shape.
Thanks for all your help everybody.

Thanks. It seems to work very well for a Lite version. It was really fast during the whole scan, too. I think I'm just gonna stick with this even though it is really annoying not knowing why my Windows Defragmenter stopped working suddenly.
But again, thanks for all your help everyone. |
