Software question

Is Windows XP still the latest operating system? If so does anyone out there know how much it costs to purchase? I would also need to know system requirements. My computer is custom built and still uses the 98 SE operating system with 256 in memory.
Please advise.
Thanks

Yes, Windows XP is the most recent version for the most part. You can get the OEM version of Windows XP Home for about $90 at Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16837102059

What kind of processor do you have? You can run Windows XP with 256 MB of memory, but 512 MB is better.
