Cool Why am I getting a CTF Loader Occurred a Problem Error message?

Now since this morning when I boot to my drive (D) with Windows XP Professional on it and when I open IE I get this error message, CTF Loader encountered a problem and needs to close and sorry for any inconvenience.
I really don't know what a CTF Loader is other than it's something to do with windows. I did go to administrative Tools and check the even Viewer and I pulled up the error but that didn't really help me either. It's happening seems like ever time I go to a different site now too. Like when I clicked on the site and came up here, I got the same error message. I looked at the info that was gonna be sent to Microsoft through the error report, it just had a bunch of numbers in there and also mentioned some-thing about image...
Any suggestion, I'd appreciate it very much.
Thanks in advance...
BTW, I'm in dire straits here and would appreciate any assistance you can offer here. HELP PLEASE...

The CTF loader appears to be part of MS Office and relates the ctfmon.exe. You can uncheck ctfmon.exe from loading using msconfig but it will come back as a startup program. Found the following link that explains about CTFMON and how to turn it off.

http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;282599

Pay particular attention to this area:

"Removing the Ctfmon.exe might cause problematic behavior in your Office XP programs, so removing it is not recommended. To prevent Ctfmon.exe from running, follow these steps.

Step 1: Uninstall Alternative User Input
To uninstall the alternative user input feature, set the installation state to Not Available in Office XP Setup

Microsoft Windows 2000 and Microsoft Windows XP:
1. Quit all Office programs.
2. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. NOTE: In Windows XP, click Start and then click Control Panel.

3. In Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs.NOTE: In Windows XP, click Add or Remove Programs.

4. In the Currently installed programs list, click to select Microsoft Office XP product, where Office XP product is the name of the specific Office product being used. If you are using a standalone version of one of the Office programs, click to select the appropriate product in the list. Click Change.
5. In the Maintenance Mode Options dialog box, select Add or Remove Features, and then click Next. This displays the Choose installation options for all Office applications and tools dialog box.
6. Click the plus sign (+) next to Office Shared Features to expand it.
7. Click the icon next to Alternative User Input, and then select Not Available.
8. Click Update.
NOTE: If you have multiple Office XP products installed, for example, Office XP Professional and Publisher 2002, you must repeat the preceding steps for each installed product."

There's a couple other pertinent links that I found here:

Thanks alot Panama for taking a look at the issues I mention to you. I really appreciate it immensely, I will check everything out as you've said and see if that will take care of the CTF LOADER Problem. Unfortunately I can't check right now on the other issue with the emoticons coz I'm right now up here with drive D: running and I'll have to come back and see if the cursor does give me the explanation as to what each icon stands for in control panel and windows explorer. I will definitely do that next. I can tell you that with this system, Windows XP Professional, it does give the definitions in windows control panel and all the rest of the icons.

On this fix your talking about for the CTF LOADER prob', I'm running Microsoft Office Professional Office 2003. Is this the type of Microsoft Office program you're referring to PM ? I'll let you know how I make out Jon.
Thanks a million again and I hope you have a splendid evening too.
Best regards,
Fred.......

Re: CTF LOADER ERROR Message
All - I had this thing suddenly appear today and after about 8 hours of 'working' and dealing with the error message, I searched for ctfmon.exe, double clicked all the files that came up and deleted the ones that wouldn't run, leaving behind only one file. I then decided to check my security settings on internet explorer. I lowered the settings to medium from medium high and viola! error is gone.
Hope this helps!

Okay folks, nevermind. What I posted before didn't work for long. What did work was uninstalling Microsoft Office and reinstalling it....

After trying everything I could find online I tried looking for Office 2000 updates since that seems to be what is causing this error.

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/do...incatalog.aspx and you need to let it check your Office for genuine Microsoft Office. I have taken you right to the page with the above URL.

I first tried using SR-1 update and then Service packs 2 & 3 but only going through the above link did I finally stop this very annoying error pop-up.

Good luck!

I am having this problem today. I have attempted all of the above suggestions and clicked all the links and tried what is there too. My problem is I don't have any Microsoft Office programs installed. I did have a trieal version of Office installed for about a week but I uninstalled it over a year ago. Can anyone help me get rid of this error message?

This is an old thread which involves Office 2000 and 2003, not 2007. Please start your own new thread.
