Cpu Freezing!

hey, my computer keeps freezing. Im not sure where this belongs so ill post here. It will probly be moved but give me the link to where its moved pls. Anyway, my comp HAD windows millenium edition on it. BUt a few weeks ago the interenet went down in our house (we have 43 comps same internet). All the other computers were able to get the internet back up by creating a new profile with the wireless router. OUr cpu company did not know how to do this with windows me, so it was upgraded to xp home edition. A few months ago it got chronic freezes. Every so often it would freeze. No ctrl alt dlt, no mouse move and i couldn't even shut it down from the power button. I would either have to press the restart button of use the power bar. I ran my antivirus which is something like panda titanium 05-06. And it says my system has no virus. The freezes dont happen at a particular time, maybe after 2 minutes after start up, maybe 30 seconds maybe 1 hour. But it will freeze. So that hapened for about a month before the internet went down and was sent into the shop. Aparently at the shop it didn't freeze at all and worked fine. But when it was back in my basement it still froze just like before. I then thought perhaps my monitor had lost the conection from the hard drive and tried a new monitor, but the same thing hapened.
