Xp64 bit
hello people ...............Its my understanding that I can have a 64 bit processor and run a 64 bit OS and still ruin 32 bit say office 2000 sofware with no problems??? Any one out ther want to fill me in???

Al honestly my opinion is that x64 bit is okay but i wouldnt get it yet. Go with a x64 bit ready chip. SO when you can upgrade you can. There is just not enough drivers and applications you can run with x64 bit generation. Im not entirely sure you can run windows 2000. I believe only office 2003 is capable. BUt dont wuopte me on that. But be warned, If you upgrade from windows xp to windows x64 you cant go back!

Yes, that is correct. In fact, that is what I have: Office 2000 running on Windows x64. 32-bit apps run just fine on Windows x64 for the most part. 16-bit DOS apps do not run at all. Also, all drivers need to be 64-bit drivers.
If you do choose to go with Windows x64, make sure that all of your hardware has 64-bit drivers available. |

Thanks Gent's I just ordered 3 copies of XP SP2.....and will give it some more time before I start useing XP 64 bit
