Downloading On Screen Video

I have tried to download an on screen movie file that runs quite happily in VLC player into an AVI file so that i can convert it to DVD file and burn. I have tried Riverpast Screen Capture also several other trial programmes but all i get is a blank black screen on playback on computer using the progammes player or VLC.
Is there a programme that will carry out this function of recording what VLC is playing or will i have to watch it on the computer?

Hi,

I once used HiDownload to download a streaming video to the hard drive. It worked well, so it might work for you, too.

Does that mean you have that file already on hard drive ? What's the problem to convert it to DVD, then ?

Yes jayb1234 this again is streaming video.
RJ it is on hard drive because i can play it with VLC but none of my normal conversion programmes will look at, they include Nero, VSO convertXtoDVD, winAVI, CopytoDVD, thats why i am looking for a programme to catch what VLC will run.

Since you have it on hard drive you only need to convert. What kind of file is it ? Is it mpeg, wmv, rm, qt, mov.. . ?

Whatever kind of file it is, there is a way to convert it.

But if you want to capture it from VLC, turn off the overlay, and use your capture softwares again. Without the overlay they will work.
