White out....Y????

How do i get my Automatic updates back? They are whited out.

Are you logged in as administrator or are you using a normal user/limited account? You have to be admin to change the automatic update settings. Same applies if you're on a network....the settings have to be changed from the network admin account. If that's not it, and you're comfortable/knowledgable with playing with the registry, you might want to check this link out.

Thank you this worked for me.


Click Start, Run and type REGEDIT.EXE

Navigate to this location:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Policies \ Microsoft \ Windows \ WindowsUpdate \ AU

In the right-pane, delete the two values AUOptions and NoAutoUpdate
