splat Help! Win Xp Sp2 Causes Stop Error

I hope someone can help me with this. This is why I hate service packs. I tried to update my pc to SP2 from sp1 and when I rebooted the PC, my winlogon.exe will not load. The following error is the STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error} message.

I checked microsoft website and the article they have is confusing (article #156669). Can't I just delete the old winlogon (or change the extension to .old) and force it to make a new winlogon? I really do not want to have to reinstall my windows. God, I hate service packs!!!!!!!!!

I can't even get into Safe Mode!!!!!! The only thing I can get into is by using a win98 startup disk to get to a DOS prompt.

Any ideas short of reinstalling win xp would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks.

By any chance do you have Norton System Works which has a program included called Go Back. This can cause this error to occur, if this is the case disable Go Back and then uninstall it. I found this KB article on MS website http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=316503&sd=RMVP. Hope it helps.
