Unhappy WinXP reactivation

I took out old hard drive & put it in new PC but I only want it in there for a week max. while old PC gets replacment fan on motherboard & DVD burner put in. Windows XP - Home Edition now wants me to reactivate it within 3 days.
I thought I was doing something great so I wouldn't be without a PC...
Is this going to be a problem now & for when I put it back in original PC?

Help! Have I done something bad???

isn't is 30 days?- the wost would be a second activation via phone when the hard drive goes back into its original home.

Nope it says 3 Days

I would've thought it would be 30 days but it comes up with 3 days.
Has anyone done the same thing as me?

Teresa thats very unusal that it would ask you to reactivate just for swapping hard drives. Ive never heard of that. How long did you have thats windows product before takign it out. Many times if you swap hard drives and system time and date are off windows automatically suspects Fraud and asks you to reactivate for safety precauttions. The hard drives pick up on the date and time and sync up with microsoft so thats more then liekly you problem.

You can simply call the Microsoft access number on the reactivation screen, explain what you have done and they will likely activate it for you.

WinXP reactivation

So this is what I done:

I called Microsoft and they said it shouldn't be a problem putting hard drive back into old PC.

So then this is what I done:

I didn't reactivate Windows on new PC due mainly to the fact that I had some hardware conflicts (butthat's another story). I put old hard drive back into old computer, did a system restore to an earlier time, Windows asked me for an immediate activation of Windows - which I did via phone and hey presto! all is ok.
