duel boot xp-xp64

Hi trying to install xp-64 on a new 300GB HD
I get through to installing xp-64 on drive E then when compter restarts i change bios to boot from E drive and i get system disk faiure or boot from cd again and i get file :NTOSKRNL.EXE missing end of!
when i ran bootcfg /scan it only saw 1 os
I,ve gone into C: xp /disk mangement windows files are there on E: Tried to edit boot.ini on E: and boot from E: same result
If i boot from C: i don't get the option of which os and end up in xp
Ive read loads on this but can't find anything that applies to my situation and anything i have tried has gone nowhere
I know i'm proprably missing something bigtime so can anyone point out what for me thanks

Is there a boot.ini file on C?

Its ok now been at it all day and sussed it out it was down to my bios sata settings .

what did you do to fix it because i am having the same problem. my system is telling me i have this NTOSKRNL.EXE is missing or dammaged.and asking me to reinstall another one.
give me the steps please i am stuck,i don't know what to do.
