Boot.ini file

Hi trying to load xp-64 but a bit scared of changing the boot.ini file what should the file read at moment it reads
[boot loader]
timeout=4
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Windows XP Professional x64 Edition" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
But this is not working, my xp os is on my c drive and xp-64 is on another hd d drive

What do you want to do exactly? Does it boot into Windows x64 when you select that option in the boot menu? If you don't get enough time to select which version of Windows to boot into, change the timeout to something longer than 4, like 30.

Do you want to dual boot or not? It looks like Windows x64 should be on another partition on your main hard drive.

It looks like you need to reinstall it then. It really doesn't matter if it is on a separate partition or a different drive entirely, but it looks like it wasn't installed correctly.

Yes, you can remove the "multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Windows XP Professional x64 Edition" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect" line.
