Hi Everyone
Is there a link somewhere in the forums to tips on XP Pro Post installation tips, tricks etc. My searches did not return what I was looking for. Thanks Dave |

What kind of information are you looking for exactly? There isn't a whole lot you need to do after installation.

In general, turn on the windows firewall if it isn't on already, set up your internet connection and update windows. Install any drivers that are needed, and update if needed. Get your security programs set up and updated. Install any other progams you are going to use and update them. Transfer files that you want from the old machine. By now your hard drive will probably have a fair amount of fragmentation on it, so defragmenting it would be a good idea.

Thanks guys for all the good info.
Basically tweaking it to work like I want is what I was looking for. I pretty much know how to do that but wanted a more in depth list of things I may not have thought of or known about. Yes, I did setup all my security stuff prior to getting on line. I am still far from over but am in no hurry as I am still using the old setup till things sort out. I finally located the pages I needed along with your inputs should work just great. Thanks much Dave Last edited by y2kman; 05-24-2006 at 01:15 PM. |
