Monitor Powers off at restart

Hello

I have the ECS Model k7som+ motherboard running Duron 1000 socket A Spitfire. On board Video is the Sis 740 AGP graphic adapter. Basically the problem I'm having is when i hit the reset button to restart my computer, my screen goes black and says DPMS mode off, then it says check signal and my monitor goes off. The fan and motherboard still run however without turning off. I have to push the power button and hold it down for several seconds for the the computer to power off. Then I have to turn it back on to get my monitor to function again. Restart does not work correctly. I'm using Bios American megatrends 07.00 04/02/01. My stystem was working fine before I had to reset the cmos. Under the Desktop, Properties, and setting Tab, Advanced, I have every set to never turn off, including screen saver, however this doesn't prevent my monitor from giving me the dpms mode off signal and then monitor dies. Forgot to Add I'm using Windows Me
