[HELP] Run a DLL as an App Error
I am having a problem, for some reason when I start up windows xp I get an error message that reads:
Run a DLL as an APP has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. I usually just hit close, and it doesnt seem to effect anything on my computer. Its just sort of annoying seeing it, can anyone help me get rid of this problem. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. |

"Run a DLL as an App has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
Cause This error may occur if the primary hard drive or boot partition has been changed/upgraded/replaced and software from the hard drive vendor (such as MaxBlast from Maxtor or Data Lifeguard from Western Digital) has been used to move the data from the old to the new drive. Solution Click Start | Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services. Right-click System Restore Service and click Properties. From the Startup Type drop-down, select Disabled. Click OK. Close the Services and Administrative Tools windows. Right-click My Computer, click Properties, and click the System Restore tab. The System Restore tab should now display properly; however, the System Restore service will be disabled. Enable System Restore and click Apply. Note: All previous restore points will be removed

This is a peculiar problem, on a few posts I have found that this error can be caused by ATI catalyst or hdtv software but have not found specific solution exept doing repair install of windows or removing hdtv software, try using recovery console (CHKDSK/ F) and http://www.updatexp.com/scannow-sfc.html but first use good virus scaner and scan for viruses and other malware!
