Talking Windows won't start due to error in software

hi just have a problem with my mothers computer...... I've told her to fix the problem just by putting in the Windows XP disk and rebooting from CD and choosing the repair option??? but is this the best way??????

This is what she sent to me...

Last night it read:

Windows could not start because of an error in the software. Please report problem as: Load needed DLLS for Kernel.

Please contact your support person to report this problem.

Today it reads:

Window could not start because of the following file is missing or corrupt. \systems32\ntoskrnl.exe

Please re-install a copy of the above file.

Anyone got any suggestions, or explainations???

Thank you

It is possible that the XP installation is corrupt, and a repair install would fix these errors. There are some things you need to know about about a repair install befire attempting one, though:

The last time I experienced random errors, the memory on the machine went bad. You could test the memory with memtest86, or attempt the repair install. If it is faulty memory, you will not get windows to reload. Good Luck!
