Windows is crashing after service pack 2 install

I have tried the various fixes on this web site
http://winhlp.com/WxSP2.htm#Cannot_i...Service_Pack_2
after having to useNorton go back twice I am on my third attempted install of this service pack. I am booted into the safe mode. What should I look for and what can I do at this point? My symptoms are the computer will not successfully boot and goes into a repeating cycle. It is a P4 2.4 GHz with 1 GB of RAM with windows XP home.

Try downloading full (network) install could be that some of files are corupted http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...5-9e368d3cdb5a
or order it on CD http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...s/default.mspx but Please allow approximately 4-6 weeks for shipping.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's a conflict with GoBack - I'd disable GoBack before trying to install the service pack. Let the builtin Windows system restore do its job.

As a note, you need to make sure the system is squeaky clean before installing SP2 - do full comprehensive virus, spyware, and malware scans and a disk cleanup.
