Trouble with RAID setup
Alright, I don't have my motherboard cd so I went to http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/M...ProductID=1881
which is the driver download page for my mobo. I downloaded and ran the RAID driver, but it didn't show me where it installed anything so I had to search for it and it was a .pf file. I put it on a floppy disk. Then I went and deleted the current array on my PC, and tried to install windows. The floppy does nothing when it asks me to enter it, and windows copied everything that was on the array to my non-sata backup HD which was empty. Did I get the wrong driver or where did I go wrong? Thanks in advance! -Andy |

.PF File Extension
File Type Private File File Format Compressed File Common? No File Description Password-protected file encrypted by Aladdin Systems Stuffit Deluxe software; requires password to unencrypt and decompress Program(s) to open a pf file Mac / Windows: Allume Systems Stuffit Expander (may still require password to open) I tried that link you put up there and found raid driver in .exe file and could not find .pf file it could be that you missed the file that you have downloaded file is 5.02 MB big and probably has to be installed on floppy to be functional. SATA Hard Drive Configurations (nForce series) - 8 - Åé ¤¤ ¤å (4) Making a SATA controller driver disk To install Windows 2000/XP onto a SATA hard drive on the nVIDIA nForce3 250/Ultra or nVIDIA nForce2 MCP RAID SATA controller successfully, you need to install required driver for the SATA controller during OS installation. Without the driver, the hard drive may not be recognized during the Windows setup process. First of all, you need to copy the driver for the SATA controller from the motherboard driver CD to a floppy disk. The instructions below explain how to copy the driver. Step 1: Find an available system and insert the motherboard driver CD into the CD-ROM drive. The installation utility will appear automatically. Quit the installation utility first. Step 2: Go to My Computer and right-click the CD-ROM drive icon and select Open (Figure 11). Step 3: Go to the BootDrv folder and look for an executable program named MENU.exe This explanation you can find in a user manual for RAID setup on that same page !!!

The file downloads as an .exe, but even zipped is too big to fit on a floppy. And when I run it I have to search to f ind any trace of it actually doing anything and all I get is a .pf file.
And I don't have the motherboard CD right now. |
