If Sonic gives you an option to create a CD/DVD from an image file, yes. Choose that, then browse to the ISO, and burn it.
The Sonic software may not work with a burner other than the one in the machine it shipped with, however. This is why I caution people who want to save a couple bucks and buy an OEM DVD burner - not all of them come with software. Retail software costs more than the burner. The only OEM burners that I *know* come with software are Lite-Ons, they ship with the Nero OEM Suite and PowerDVD. |

To those who have already installed Vista. How is it in terms of major bugs. I am awaiting my new hard-drive to come back from Western Digital and while I have been waiting, I downloaded Vista and burned it to disk. I was considering installing it on my new drive and was curious as to how stable it was. My other question was, if I decided to switch back to Win XP I can just drop my cd back in and do a new installation correct? Any info would be great.
Thanks Extreme.

Keep in mind that Vista is still in Beta form. That means ALL the bugs are not out of it yet. If you read the download page carefully, you'll see the caution from MS to NOT install this on a primary machine. I would still consider Vista in a developmental state and only recommend it's use on a secondary machine or secondary hard drive. Don't put any irreplaceable files on a Vista install, imo.

Yea, I read the the download page Panama Red. Since I am waiting for my new harddrive I figured I would give it a whirl. I was just talking in terms of it being really glitchy and causing things to crash for no reason. As far as it being installed on a secondary machine that would be kind of hard for me. I have two gaming rigs setup right now and both are equally used. The one I am using now has a lot of files on its harddrive that I do'nt want to lose while the other rig will have a brand new drive. If all fails I can just reinstall Win XP and be done with it.

Do NOT install Vista on any machine that you cannot afford to lose all files on.

What GLC said plus it is still kindof buggy, i have had a few crashed since sunday, mostly to do with getting drivers to work(i finally got the last ones working last night) and the powersave not quite shut down modes have crashed for me. Vista itself doesnt *seem* to have any large bugs or sudden crashes so far there are a few little anoiyances but if you can deal with that in a BETA then go ahead and get it.

You also have to plan - what are you going to do when the beta expires? You MAY have to reformat to install anything.

Yeah, let's all get a handle the basic info:
It's a beta version, it's probably buggy (that's why they're asking YOU to test it), TEST IT ON A DRY MACHINE, NOT YOUR OWN SYSTEM WITH IMPORTANT DATA (DUH!), and have fun with it!! -Kev

Ive just clean installed vista rc2 on my own machine . Ive also installed office 2007 too. The installation went really smooth. After the activation , i went to vista updates and downloaded whatever was available. Now ive been running it for a couple of days now , and im finding it really good . The only peripherals it didnt detect was my logitech webcam , and an old hauppage tv card. RC1 didnt like my hp printer , RC2 , no problem at all. A lot of us are really curious about vista , so if you want to try it then do so . Some people will like it , some people wont . Granted , it has a lot of unnecessary stuff in it, but it also has has some really nice touches. Im really liking it so far , it also is playing whatever games i put on .

i to recently upgraded from RC1 to RC2 on my laptop. with RC1 i noticed that it seemed to be very sluggish. at first i just figured it was because of my hardware in my laptop, i also noticed that when i would login to a profile my screen had a glitch in it and would go black and then show a view diagonal lines across it. Other then that Both RC1 and RC2 found all the drivers for everything except my dail up modem but i dont ever use that anyway so no loss. RC2 appears to be a lot smoother and faster then RC1. So now im thinking it was some bug(s) in RC1 that was causing it to be sluggish and not my hardware that is listed below in my sig. It also appears that they got rid of the video glitch when logging in to profiles. other then that, i havent really played with it much.

Ob1, id echo your comments , i do find it really quick , quicker than xp . When they refine it even more , i reckon it will awesome. The shutdown is near instant , and browsing the net and through folders is really quick. Its going to be better still when manufacturers release better drivers.

correct...
I can tell you I have had less issues with beta2 than RC2... So far on my rig I have been having problems with the XVID codec for media player...Dont work...I also cant listen to streaming radio over the net from my favorite radio station...? Media center still doesnt work... works less now.... some programs just dont work right if at all...though some games do....but it's got along way to go yet....I am not happy with RC2..
