dual booting off an external HD
I have downloaded vista beta 2, but i want to know if i can boot of an external hd without having to create another patition. is this possible?

Most externals aren't seen till the OS loads up which makes booting of them difficult.

Probably not, XP can't be ran from an external hard drive, so I doubt if vista would be any different.

How about running it from a external SATA drive (connected to Mobo Sata & accessed from a sata port on eternal bracket) & by changing the boot order in the BIOS to select the drive.
