How to make startup or bootable floppy disk in WinXP

How can I make a startup floppy disk in WinXP? Is startup floppy disk same as bootable floppy disk?

Yes.

Start up Windows Explorer> put a floppy disk in the floppy drive> right click on the floppy drive in Windows Explorer ( a: )> click on Format> put a check mark in the box for "Create a MS-DOS startup disk> click Start.

Is their any difference between the startup disks created in winxp and win98?

Can I use start up disk of win98 to boot winxp and vice versa?

The startup disk that XP makes is based on WinME. Any startup disk can boot any computer - to an A prompt.

What is the purpose for you making this startup disk?

Just incase if my system doesnot boot in the future , I will use this disk to boot my computer.

If that's the case, use the Ultimate Boot CD instead. It has a bunch of diagnostic utilities on it to help you troubleshoot computer problems.

Exactly. What would be your next step when you boot with the floppy and you are looking at an A prompt? You aren't going anywhere else.
