I have a new Linksys Wireless Adapter, and when I was setting it up, Vista automatically installed the wrong Drivers. If I uninstall those Drivers, I cannot install the correct ones until and reboot. Once I reboot, Vista will install the wrong ones again [I can't cancel/stop it].
How Do I Stop This? |

Typical installation procedure calls for the router to remain unplugged while you install the router driver software
![]() Your case is probably the reason why they do that ![]() Just leave your router unplugged, and install the drivers from the CD. Once the drivers are fully installed (and the computer is restarted, if needed), plug the router in again. Vista should automatically detect the installed drivers, and you should be ready to go. |

Routers do not use or need drivers - these are CARD drivers that are the issue.
Install the drivers FIRST from the CD or download before putting the card in. That said, welcome to beta testing. Sounds like this may need a bug report. Just because it's an opportunity to try Vista free doesn't mean it's gonna work for you. Last edited by glc; 06-25-2006 at 02:32 AM. |
