Account question
I put my 2nd computer in the family room for my kids to use last night. I use xp pro and had 2 user accounts set up. I had one and the wife had one. Anyway, the oldest boy went down and set himself up as a Administrator, with a password and his brother as a Administrator with no password.
Problem is the son with no password can't use any of the online games that are on the machine, It tries to patch to internet, then says there's an error loading game and to reinstall software. When I log into the other son's account all programs work fine. Besides wanting to strangle the first son, I need to know why these games won't work on all accounts? Also, do I need to boot in safe mode to get rid of these accounts and set things back to the way they were? Thanks John |

Have you checked to see whether the internet's working fine for the username with no password? Do you have any s/w firewall running with settings that need to be changed?
As to why programs dont work for all accounts .. it should if it's all admin accounts .. unless the game was installed to a directory with any deny settings for other accounts. Or a network/firewall setting you may have overlooked. |

Kind of a shot in the dark here, but trying system restore might (or might not) revert everything back to the way it was.

Well, I was able to change the permissions on other account, so he can download stuff from internet.
I'll just leave it as is, I don't feel like wiping the accounts. Thanks for the help John |
