How to install WinXP from dos?

By default when we insert winxp cd , it automatically runs and we have to install it by following the instruction. But how can we go into a dos mode and install winxp with the following command:

X:\>cd WinXP (enter)

X:WinXP\>cd i386(enter)

X: WinXP\i386> winnt.exe(enter)

I hope my concern is clear.

Waiting for reply?

Can we do this by booting the system from startup or ms-dos based floppy and installing winxp if we have the backup of winxp in any partition in our computer?

If I understand the question right (and I'm not sure that I do), I think the answer would be yes. What exactly do you wish to do? Is there a reason why you don't want to install from a CD?

If you want to do this from dos, seek out and find a copy of Smartdrv.exe and launch it before starting the XP install. It will make the install go from 3 hours to under one hour....
