windows messenger
Old intel computer died so I built a new amd machine and reinstalled win xp pro. Question is - how do I disable windows messenger. Can't seem to recall how to do it or where. TIA

You can go to control panel then add remove programs then add remove windows components, than just find windows messenger in there and uncheck it, apply that and it will remove it. If it isn't found there, then it will be after you get xp up to SP2.
OR paste this in the run box: RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove and OK it.

You can also exit messenger, go to prograqm files and delete the folder that says "messenger". If it won't let you delete it, do it from safe mode and it will.
