WINLOGON.EXE Causes High CPU Usage
Since this morning when I first started up my CPU usage of WINLOGON.EXE has been unusually high (causing my mouse to be an hourglass).
The mem usage is corrently 3,708k with the peak being 11,872k. My box is an Intel P4 1.8 GHz, 512mb RAM. Thanks for your help. I had this problem myself a a few months back. Check through some of the suggestions in my thread: http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=145914
I found that a file called "msctl32.dll" was the culprit. |

Yes I saw that post and I even searched for that dll but I had no luck. I also tried to unplug my network cable to see if my computer had the same reaction but my CPU usage stayed high the whole time.

Look at line 020, the DLL shown in I don't think is good. Do a google of artm_new.dll and you will see some info that it is a trojan. If you google winlogon.exe you will see that it can be hi-jacked.

Yes flanzig1 THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe I didn't notice that line before! I ran KillBox and had it remove the registry setting and delete on reboot. Now, after a reboot, everything is working perfectly! Thanks Again!!!!!!!!!!!!!
