usb flash wont install on 98se

This is a Corsair usb memory drive I am trying to install on W98SE.
According to the Corsair forum it is supposed to work on SE.
It is not recognised by P&P search. I have installed the .exe
driver package but the drive is not installing/showing. I would like to
manually feed it the actual .inf etc drivers that it is asking for.
Where would the drivers have been installed/filed
by the .exe driver (install shield) program ?

Also ,what 'hardware type' should I select it as, in 'add new hardware wizard'?
'USB controllers', and 'storage device' seem to be the only likely choices.
Thanks.

If you installed the driver .exe package and rebooted before plugging it in, it should plug and play as soon as you do plug it in. If you didn't follow this sequence, you have some uninstalling and cleaning up to do.

Thank glc, had no luck with cleaning and reinstalling with a
different sequence. You sure these things can work with old 98 ?
I'll try with another/major brand and see if it recognises it.
Will get back.

My Sandisk works fine with 98SE as long as I follow that sequence. It does NOT work with 98 first edition. You sure you have SE there?

A late follow up. Yes its 98 SE. Stuck a Kingston USB drive in there and it recognised it without any drivers being loaded. A rare case where the major/premium brand is better.
