Possible unique Vista problem
Hello. I sliced out a 20GB partition from my C drive to load Vista. I've actually loaded it, then reloaded it a couple of times (went from 32-bit to 64-bit). Now I have XP Pro on my C: drive and Vista on my J: drive (both on the same physical disk). The only thing weird now is that when I was installing Avast antivirus, it was wanting to install it to C:\Program Files, etc. Also, when I opened up My Computer, it showed a Vista logo over my C: drive. After a mini-panick attack, I rebooted back into XP and everything was still where I left it. C: was listed as my XP partition, J: as my Vista partition.
Anyone know what's going on, or what is causing this? The last two times I installed Vista, it 'knew' it was on the J: partition. Thanks. |

its a beta, live with it
![]() its just another one of those things thats bound to happen. its most likely a problem with the system variable for %SystemRoot%, or similar 'fraid you've gotta just live with it IMO

No, I'm sure it's not so. I have beta tested several things for MS and not run into this problem. I certainly wouldn't mind loading Vista again, but wanted to see if it was something simple first. It never did this when I loaded the 32-bit version (two times), only now with the 64-bit version.

Not sure how are why it does it, but Vista shows up as C drive...I trippled booted XP (originaly installed on C) and two versions of Vista. They all said C drive regardless of which I booted off of.
