Fresh XP install on SATA HDD Problems

Hi everyone,
So I formatted my maxtor sata drive and partioned it using max blast 4. When I load my windows disk, it does't find my sata drive. It is recognized in the BIOS. Any ideas??

Thanks

You do not have to format and partition with Maxblast - Windows setup will do that for you.

You need to press F6 and load the SATA drivers from a floppy for Setup to be able to find the drive.

Make sure you disconnect your card reader and your secondary drive or you will have an unwelcome surprise - the hard drive will not be drive C when you are done.

ok, that sounds like the ticket. Now I just finished looking on ASUS's site and found this driver:
Promise SATA378 Driver V1.00.0.26 (ATA Mode):

thanks a lot.

ok, follow up...I installed that driver to a disk and then pressd F6 when asked. After i selected that driver it continued, but then it still did not detect a drive to install windows too.

Which controller is the drive on - the Promise or the Via? Different drivers.

Thanks glc.
