Windows XP Home w/SP2
I have inadvertantly setup two user accounts on my system.
I am the only user of the pc and my question is should I delete the files from one of the accounts? Under the first account there are 296 files listed of which I ran a list using the search menu. The second account has just 39 files, all of which are duplicates from the first account. Since I am not using the second account, should I go into search, list them and delete them or would this cause problems I am unaware of? Thanks for the help.

If you log into an administrative account you can remove that user's profile - which will delete the files.
Open System in Control Panel. On the User Profiles tab, under Profiles stored on this computer, click the user profile you want to delete, and then click Delete. |

I think I mis led you glc,
I do not have two user accounts set up. What I have done is change the name of the account. When I do a search under the account names, the current name came up with the 296 files but the old name (not in the user accounts section) had 39 files. I was going to just delete the old folder but thought may may cause an unwanted problem of some kind. |

You are asking for problems changing account names - you are much better off creating a new account then copying the old profile to the new location, then deleting the old profile.
