Can't boot from CD-ROM to start reinstallation!
My computer is a step away from death, and I need to reformat and reinstall XP. The problem is, I cannot make my Dell Inspiron 2650 laptop boot from the CD-ROM. I have hit F2 as the computer starts, gone to the "Boot" menu, highlighted the "CD-ROM" option, and hit F10 to save changes and exit, but as soon as the computer starts up again, it boots from the hard drive! I also tried hitting F12 at startup, as suggested by another user, but it didn't get me to another boot-sequence selection menu. Please help!!

Start your Computer and hit F8, you should get a messege stating either boot your Computer from HDD, CD-ROM or Removable Device(Floppy drive), highlight CD-ROM and press enter.
See if it boots from CD-ROM. |

You may have a recovery partition on there - if so, I think it's F11 at boot to access it.
