There`s also the built in scanreg /restore option which allows you to restore to a previously known good start.
Unfortunately the options are limited (by date) and more unfortunately I forget the reg hack to increase the amount. Been away from the 9x series too long.. Maybe someone else knows\remebers.

You can copy them too. Requires you to change the attributes before you can do it. Stored in the windows directory and named user.dat, user.da0, system.dat, and system.da0.
Will leave it up to you to figure what is what and how to do it. |

Hi all
Strangely enough, the setting that controls the number of backup copies that Windows 98's "ScanReg/Registry Checker" makes is contained in the Scanreg.ini file. It is the MaxBackupCopies= X (where X is the number of copies you wish to keep). You can use Notepad to make the change. The value can be anywhere from 5 to 99 (back in those days, disk space was more limited and few folks saved more than 5 to 10 copies). For just about as much info as you ever could want about saving a Win9x registry, visit an old reliable = the "Bud's Troubleshooter" webpages for ScanReg & the Win9x registry - - - http://www.geocities.com/~budallen/scanreg.html . . .
