system.ini and win.ini are configuration files that hold settings on hardware devices, fonts, keyboard, and other items on Windowx 9X machines. config.sys is the configuration file for DOS, which has information on memory managers, file buffers, and so on. autoexec.bat is the DOS batch file that is automatically run on bootup, after config.sys has been processed. It can load drivers, set environment variables, and do just about anything else a batch file can do.
