Folder takes up to 5 minutes to open.
I have one folder on my computer that has about 1500 images in it. It takes about 4-5 minutes for it to fully open. I thought it could be because there are so many pictures in it, but I have another folder that has 2900 images in it, and another with 4000ish. And before yall think i'm some sicko, lol, these are my digital cam pics. I tried using a program to find corrupted files, thinking maybe it had one or two in it, causing the long delay, but it said 0 errors found. Is there anything else I can try? Thanks for the help.

Change the view options in that folder to list or details view - if you are viewing thumbnails its gonna take forever to render.

that's what i thought too, but why would folders that have more than twice as much thumbnails to render, open right up? It just doesn't make sense to me, especially since the thumbs.db file is in the folder, shouldn't it just open that file up instead of rendering them everytime?

I have thumbs turned off, not that it matters to the thread, but if the file sizes are different, meaning in one directory they are all 2 - 3 MB files, and in another they are all 1 - 2 MB files can make a difference, too. Also, if they are located on different hard drives, and one is slower, it can make a difference.

All the pics are taken from the same camera, so they average all about the same size. And also the folders are on the same hard drive. I don't know, it's been like this for a year now, I guess I'll just have to deal with it.

When was the last time you did a little spring cleaning on the harddrive? just because they are in the same folder doesn't mean they are in the same position on the harddrive, why not try a defrag and a little disk cleanup.
