XP: Wacky installer problems

I have no clue as to why this is happening. Launching one application triggers Windows Installer to attempt an install of a different application.

For instance, launching Outlook causes Windows to try to install Norton Antivirus. I have another application (ScorePad) that when launched triggers Installer for TurboTax!

These problems started after I did a registry edit to try and troubleshoot a problem with Norton (It was Norton Tech Support's idea).

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

I had a similar problem a few weeks ago when everytime I tried to open something Windows would try and install Office XP, the only way around it was a system restore.
