driver error in windows...cant find fix?
Hi All,
I have a client computer I'm working on and I can't seem to fix the driver error that comes up after installing HP's All-in-One software (which is bloatware to me) for her network printer. The error message that comes up is a " ieee 1394 network driver error." I'm not sure if it is a problem with windows so I updated as necessary but the message is still there; it pops up every 2-3 minutes. Only way I could do away with the error message is to uninstall HP's software. So far I have cleaned out her temp folder reinstalled software by copying data on the install cd to a directory and then running the setup.exe from there. I went to HP's website to see if it could detect the updates that I needed but whatever I updated didn't fix the error message. She doesn't have an ethernet card though, she uses the onboard ethernet connection from her desktop. I'm not sure what devices might need there drivers adjusted, but has someone else seen this error message before? Her home network consists of a desktop pc connected through cable ethernet to wireless router which is connected to the hp printer (wireless capabilities). She then has a laptop that she connects wirelessly to router and printer, which works as it should, main problem is with the desktop (it is HP as well). I'm going to be working on it today and tomorrow so if anyone can help I'd really appreciate it thanks |

hp all in one
Does the other machine have hp all in one software?
Also, is there a custom install for that software? Sounds like it is installing something it shouldn't? Do you see any yellow exclamation marks in device manager? Perhaps you can try to update that way if there is. Last edited by legend_018; 08-01-2006 at 02:42 PM. |

You can probably thank HP for their digital imaging software. This is a recurring problem with HP software. Got to hp.com and check the support and downloads for known issues and patches that (supposedly) fix them.
Get ready to read, there's a lot of issues there. -Kev

Kev is totaly right those error mesages are real issue in HP software and I can tell you it was bothering me for a long time without real solution, strangest thing is since I'm now using 64 bit windows and HP has only beta version for 64 bit driver I can tell you truly that it's working better than on x86 XP pro that I had before.
Any way that message of yours is strange it looks like firewire has conflict with something( " ieee 1394 network driver error." ). http://kadaitcha.cx/firewire.html

well I was over there working on her home network today and it seems as though I fixed the problem. legend I didn't see any yellow exclamation marks in device manager, but I updated her HP softare. Also I installed norton internet security suite (at her request) which is running fine, I don't think that had anything to do with it though. Thanks for the link to Macko, it is a little frustrating dealing with HP's software but they make good printers
This lady though has a laptop that is "running slow" and so I optimized it for her by stopping the mass of services running in her process table. She had 85 processes to start! I got that down to the 60's, but without removing more apps it was the best I could do....hehe |
