uninstalling with no uninstaller
I have a program installed that i'd like to uninstall but it has no uninstaller and does not appear when i try the add/remove programs in the control panel.
how do i get rid of this program? my OS is XP Pro SP2.

I have used this on a number of occasions to get rid of a few stuborn so and so's.

Or look in the programs folder and see if there is a unwise.exe or one that is named something like uninstall in there.

I haven't had the need to use it for a couple of years but it certainly helped me out with a bad machine a while ago.

that little program also doesn't list it.
any other suggestions? the program that i want to uninstall isn't doing anything and i could just not run it but i'd like it gone. |

If you are fairly certain which folder in the Program Files folder belongs to the program you wish to uninstall, delete the folder for the program you wish to uninstall. Then download & install a Registry cleaning tool such as CCleaner -- which should be able to detect the broken links in the Registry that point to the program's executable, which is no longer present.
[An easy way to find the location of the program you wish to remove --- is to right-click the icon-shortcut for the program, select Properties, and select "Find Target" - that will take you to the location of the program's executable]. CCleaner is a free-for-personal-use tool, and can be found at sites such as cnet's download.com Here's a link http://www.download.com/CCleaner/300...ml?tag=lst-0-1 See if that does it . . . Gary |
