I have windows XP Pro and I'm the Admistrator. When I try to download a program off the internet like Real Player. I get an error message (ensure that you have the correct permission to install this program.) I went to copy an audio file to a CD and I received an error message that said (The folder you have selected cannot be used. Ensure that you have the correct permmision to place files in this location. Did I miss something in XP that I needed to check or whatever. I didn't have any of these problems with windows 98 2nd edition.

Hi dsim
Are you sure that you have Administrator rights for your user account? Check in the Control Panel applet "User Accounts" to make sure. Have a read through this guide for setting up user accounts on Windows XP Pro, and see if you just overlooked something during setup. http://www.microsoft.com/resources/d....mspx?mfr=true If this is not a home computer, but is a computer you use at an office and is owned by your employer, contact the IT department of your business, or your supervisor, before making any changes. Best of luck . . . Gary |
