wininet.dll missing??

Hi guys. The other day AVG found a virus or something on those lines (cant remember what it was exactly) but it healed it automaticaly. However, now when i start windows media player i get this meassage...

"The aplication has failed to start because WININET.DLL was not found. Re-installing the application may solve this problem"

So off i go to the microsoft download center, download media player 10 (i was using 9 before and prefered it, do you know if you can still get it?) but when i try to install it i get the same meassage. so i cant run media player and i cant re-install it.

Any ideas would be greatly recieved?

Just tried to run spybot S and D, same thing. so iv re-installed it and i get the same meassage. Adaware is the same, tho iv not had chance to re-install it.

look in the C: windows --system 32 folder and scroll down near the bottom and see if it is there, it will be in small letters wininet.dll a few files before winlogon which looks like an arched window with the moon and stars in it. If it is missing, look in C: windows ServicePack Files i386 right click on it and choose send to my documents--go to my documents and highlight it and choose move this file--browse to C windows system 32 and hit move.
Then reboot and see if the problem is fixed.
If there is already a copy of wininet.dll in the system 32 folder, it might be corrupted or overwritten by the malware and that is a litttle more involved to fix. If that is the case post back and someone will walk you through that.
