XP MCE or Vista?

im planning on starting a new build in september, a media pc with a little gaming capability, and am wondering about whether or not there will be a Vista MCE. i want the PC to have a tuner card, be able to record TV, play DVDs or movies on my HDD by remote, etc etc etc. Is there going to be a vista media center edition soon?

I would be surprised if there isn't something similar to a Vista MCE. From what you said you want to do with your PC, the XP MCE would work fine. Vista's release date is always a strong candidate for yet more delays.

when exactly is it supposed to release anyway? im sure XP MCE will be a little less...costly, as well as less issues such as release dates, possible bugs, etc. maybe in a year or two when vista is cheap ill pick that up and have a double boot or something.

OS prices rarely go down even if its succesor is "at large". Currently, Vista is planned for a late 2006, early 2007 release.

from what i understand, vista will contain the media center in several of the versions. it won't be a separate OS like it is now, but rather an integral part of the OS
